Well I sat the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Configuration certification exam (70-630) this morning and passed. I found a few more resources to assist with the preparation since my last blog entry about scheduling to sit this exam. Transcender also released their practice exams for 70-630 and 70-631 a few days ago so I had access to these as well. After sitting the exam I would probably say that having worked with MOSS for 12 months in a number of configurations probably helped just as much, if not more, than the exam prep stuff. My final score was 982 out of a possible 1000 over 51 questions so it looks like I only got one question wrong. The 51 questions only took me 35 minutes to complete including going back to check a couple of questions I marked because I wasn’t sure about them.
So here is some more info about the exam. T
he assessment categories within the exam are:
- Configure MOSS Portal
- Manage Search
- Configure Content Management
- Configure Business Forms
- Manage Business Intelligence
- Manage Administration
- Deploy/Upgrade MOSS
Here are links to the additional resources I found while studying for the exam….
SharePoint Test Prep References – This one points at some recorded sessions that walk through sample questions and explain the correct and incorrect answers. I had no trouble accessing the sessions as CSC Australia is a Microsoft Gold Partner but it did look like access might be restricted to partners.
Transcender Practice Exam details – CSC Australia have a volume exam agreement with Transcender so it didn’t cost me anything but I would recommend their exams if you are willing to spend the money. The questions were very good and were probably harder than the ones in the real exam so if you can consistently score well on the Transcender exam you would be likely to do well in the real exam. Plenty of meaningful explanations of the answers as well.
This blog entry on SharePointBlogs.com also had some very useful info.
I now only have one exam left to do to have successfully completed every MOSS certification exam available. Shame there’s not a Microsoft Certified MOSS Specialist qualification 🙂
