List Error “One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields”

I am currently in the process of performing an upgrade of Project Server 2003 to Project Server 2007 upgrade and in the process am also migrating from WSS 2.0 to the full MOSS Enterprise Edition. I am migrating from one set of servers to a new set of servers not performing an in place upgrade. I have run the project migrate utility fairly successfully and other than a few minor issues with a couple of sites the bulk of the project worskpaces based on WSS 2.0 have also been migrated. My first comment would be that nowhere in the migration doco did it mention that each WSS 2.0 workspace would be created under MOSS in its own individual site collection! surely it would have been more applicable to create than as sites under a single site collection in the same way as new sites were created under Project Server 2003 and still seem to be created under Project Server 2007!
The next this is that although the sites and their content seem to have be upgraded into the new environment when I attempt to view the Issues or Risks lists I receive the error "One or more field types are not installed properly. Go to the list settings page to delete these fields". This seems to happen for all views on the list. All the other custom lists we created work fine. There is a Microsoft hotfix available that mentions this error but the description of how it occurs does not match with my experience so I decided not to try it out. After googling further for answers and trying to change fields to remove spaces etc. I eventually found that the problem seems to be related to the migrated views. I can create a data view or a replica of the problem views and they all work fine but I just can’t get the old view to work. Looks like I will have to find some way to easily and quickly recreate the various views on the Isssues and Risks lists. With hundreds of workspaces to do this to it isn’t something we are going to be doing manually any time soon.
